Israel may be claiming that has achieved a lot during the last conflict that broke out in Gaza.  Palestinian advocates however advocate that the only thing Israel achieved was to take once again a big toll of civilian lives… For many Arabs Israel has experienced severe defeat not only in the Gaza strip but also with the Lebanese war during the summer of 2006 and with Iran as well. It is not a defeat," Salah Salah, a Lebanon-based member of the Palestinian National Council, said of the conflict's shaky end. The council is a 669-member legislature that represents Palestinians in the occupied territories and the diaspora. "It is a victory for the resistance and the Palestinian people of Gaza," he said along the sidelines of a conference sponsored by a think tank run by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
