Call for entries for the International Competition Section “Glocal Images”
Submission of films
The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rialto Theatre announce that Call for Entries for the 12th CYPRUS FILM DAYS – International Film Festival 2014, is now open. The festival, which is being held for the 12th time this year, will host for the 4th consecutive year a separate international competition section entitled “Glocal Images”, in which filmmakers from around the globe and Cyprus are invited to submit their fiction films. The films participating in the competition section will be selected by the festival’s artistic committee: Adonis Florides (Film director), Dr. Costas Constandinides (Academic) and Constantinos Sarkas (Journalist). This year’s festival will take place from the 4th to the 13th of April 2014 in Nicosia and in Limassol as in previous years.
The showcasing of cinematic excellence is at the heart of Cyprus Film Days. The international competition section “Glocal Images” welcomes films that voice the diversity of local cultures and contribute innovative representations of subject matters that can be addressed to an international audience.
Our International Jury (The names of the members of the jury will be announced at a later stage) will present the following awards to the films competing under the “Glocal Images” category:
· Best Film Award accompanied by the amount of €6,000
· Special Jury Award accompanied by the amount of €3,000
· Glocal Images Award accompanied by the amount of €1,000
The establishment of the International Competition Section wishes to continue to celebrate the discovery of new talent and new stories from all over the world.
Interested parties are called upon to submit an entry form by Friday, the 14th of February 2014.
