Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted yesterday that the Israeli army had carried out Friday’s attack on Syrian capital Damascus.

During a meeting with his cabinet, Netanyahu said that “the Israeli army carried out an attack at the weekend against an Iranian warehouse at Damascus International Airport”. He added that the Israeli army had attacked hundreds of alleged Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria over the course of the now almost eight-year-old civil war.

In addition, Netanyahu said that the latest attack proved that “we [Israel] are more persistent than ever in continuing to work against Iran in Syria.”
