Ο γάμος της Αντρέα Κατσιματίδη (AJ Catsimatidis) με τον Κρίστοφερ Νίξον-Κόξ (Christopher Nixon-Cox) ήταν το κοσμικό γεγονός της χρονιάς γιά τη Νέα Υόρκη. Η 21χρονη μοναχοθυγατερα του λατρεμένου φίλου μας Τζόν Κατσματίδη παντρεύτηκε τον 32χρονο εγγονό του προέδρου Νίξον σε ένα κατανυκτικό μυστήριο, που τελέσθηκε στον Καθεδρικό Ναό της Αγίας Τριάδας στο Μανχάτταν προεξάρχοντος του αρχιεπισκόπου Αμερικής κ. Δημητρίου με τη συμμετοχή τον πρωθιερέα του ναού πατρός Μαραγκού.
Η τελετή ήταν λιτή και εντυπωσιακή, παρότι το μεγαλύτερο μέρος του μυστηρίου ψάλθηκε στην αγγλική γλώσσα. Το στόλισμα με όμορφες κολώνες στις δύο άκρες του διαδρόμου ήταν εναρμονισμένο με την αισθητική του λευκού τριαντάφυλλου και της ορχιδέας.
Η Αντρέα, πανέμορφη μέσα στο νυφικό της (μοδάτο και κομψό ταυτόχρονα) φτιαγμένο από τη σχεδιάστρια των celebrities Ms Reem Acra, ενώ ο γαμπρός ντύθηκε με φράκο του Tom Ford.
Ο Τζόν οδήγησε με συγκίνηση την πρωτοκόρη του στο βωμό, ενώ είχαν προηγηθεί το ζεύγος των γονιών του Chris Cox, ο πρόεδρος του Ρεπουμπλικανικού Κόμματος της Νέας Υόρκης Ed Cox και η θυγατέρα του εκλιπόντος προέδρου των ΗΠΑ Patricia Nixon, που φορούσε ένα Valentino κομψό φόρεμα από την καλοκαιρινή συλλογή του οίκου. . Η Margo Catimatidis ήταν ντυμένη με ένα σατέν χρυσό φόρεμα της Vera Wangκαι συνδευόταν από τον λαμπρό γιό της Yianni.

Κατόρθωσα να ξεχωρίσω την υπουργό εξωτερικών Hillary Clinton τον πρώην δήμαρχο της Νέας Υόρκης Rudy Giuliani , τον πρώην υπουργό εξωταερικών των ΗΠΑ Henry Kissinger, τον πρώην κυβερνήτη της Νέας Υόρκης George Pataki, τη βουλευτή Carolyn Maloney καθώς και τον υφυπουργό Τουρισμού Γιώργο Νικητιάδη, στενό φίλο και συμπατριώτη του Τζόν.
Ανάμεσα στους προσκεκλημένους ήταν επίσης η άλλη κόρη του προέδρου Νίξον, η Julie Nixon Eisenhower παντρεμένη με τον εγγονό του προέδρου Αϊζενχάουερ, ο γερουσιαστής Chuck Schumer, η γενική πρόξενος της Ελλάδας στη Νέα Υόρκη Αγι Μπαλτά και άλλοι ών ο αριθμός έφτασε τους 700 στην υπερπαραγωγή της δεξίωσης, που απλώθηκε σε όλες τις άιθουσες χορού του ξενοδοχείου Waldorf Astoria.
Αυτό που με εντυπωσίασε στην καθόλα κομψότατη δεξίωση και το δείπνο ήταν οι στολισμοί με ανθοκατασκευές από λευκές ορχιδέες και τριαντάφυλλα. Επίσης, με ενθουσίασαν οι κομψότατες μπομπονιέρες, που είχαν το συμβολισμό μιας φωλιάς με δύο πουλάκια ερωτευμένα.( Πραγματικά, χάρηκα που δεν είδα τα συνήθη κιτς αντικείμενα που κυκλοφορούν ως μπομπονιέρες στους αμερικάνικους γάμους.) Να ζήσουν οι νεόνυμφοι και να ευτυχήσουν φέρνοντας απογόνους σύντομα!
ANDREA JOHN CATSIMATIDIS WEDS CHRISTOPHER NIXON COX IN NEW YORK CITY CEREMONY New York, NY-June 8…The daughter and son of two political and philanthropic families, Andrea John Catsimatidis and Christopher Nixon Cox, were married on Saturday, June 4 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manhattan. Mrs. Catsimatidis-Cox, 21, is the daughter of John and Margo Catsimatidis of New York City. Mr. Catsimatidis is Chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group, Gristedes Foods, and the Red Apple Group subsidiary, United Refining Company. Mrs. Catsimatidis is publisher of The Hellenic Times and the founder of MCV Advertising Associates. Mr. and Mrs. Catsimatidis are well-known philanthropists and political donors, who have contributed to both Republican and Democratic candidates and office holders across the country.
Mr. Cox, 32, is the son of Patricia Nixon Cox, daughter of the late President Richard M. Nixon, and Edward Finch Cox,Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee. The father of the groom has served as Chairman of the Corporate Department and a member of the Management Committee of the law firm of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP. In 2008, Cox was named in Super Lawyers in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance and his firm was ranked third on The American Lawyer’s 2008 “A-List” of leading law firms in the United States. Mrs. Cox serves on the boards of several foundations which contribute to medical research and other causes. She also serves on the board of the Richard Nixon Foundation.
The wedding took place almost 40 years to the day after the groom’s parents were married in a White House Rose Garden ceremony.
Following Saturday’s ceremony, a reception and dinner for more than 700 guests were held in the Grand Ballroom of New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Family members present included the groom’s great uncles Edward Nixon and Edward Finch, as well as his parents’ siblings Julie Nixon Eisenhower, Howard Cox, and Mazie Cox.
