Ο Ομπάμα συμφωνεί να εργαστεί μαζί με τον ρεπουμπλικανό αντίπαλό του στον αγώνα κατά της οικονομικής κρίσης.

Ραγδαίες είναι οι εξελίξεις στην πολιτική σκηνή των ΗΠΑ εξαιτίας της οικονομικής κρίσης που μαστίζει την οικονομία των ΗΠΑ.

Ο ρεπουμπλικανός υποψήφιος για την αμερικανική προεδρία, Τζον Μακέιν δήλωσε ότι θα διακόψει την προεκλογική του εκστρατεία για να συμβάλλει στην προσπάθεια στήριξης της Γουόλ Στριτ και ζήτησε να αναβληθεί η τηλεοπτική μονομαχία με τον δημοκρατικό αντίπαλό του, Μπαράκ Ομπάμα, που έχει προγραμματισθεί για το βράδυ της Παρασκευής.

Σε ανακοίνωσή του προς τους δημοσιογράφους, ο Τζον Μακέιν αναφέρει ότι την Πέμπτη δεν θα κάνει καμία δραστηριότητα στο πλαίσιο της προεκλογικής του εκστρατείας, αλλά θα επιστρέψει στην Ουάσινγκτον και κάλεσε τον Ομπάμα να τηρήσει ανάλογη στάση.

Ο Τζον Μακέιν εξέφρασε την εκτίμηση ότι το σχέδιο της κυβέρνησης Μπους, ύψους 700 δισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων, για τη στήριξη του χρηματοπιστωτικού συστήματος, δεν θα εγκριθεί από το Κογκρέσο ως έχει σήμερα και κάλεσε τον πρόεδρο Μπους να αναλάβει υπερκομματική πρωτοβουλία για να βρεθεί λύση.

«Είναι ώρα να συνεργαστούν τα δύο κόμματα για να επιλύσουν αυτό το πρόβλημα», δήλωσε ο Τζον Μακέιν.

Από την πλευρά του ο Μπάρακ Ομπάμα συμφώνησε να βρεθεί κοινή θέση με τον Τζον Μακέιν για την αντιμετώπιση της οικονομικής κρίσης. Ο υποψήφιος των Δημοκρατικών, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στην Φλώριδα, αναμένεται να προβεί σε λίγη ώρα σε δηλώσεις.
