Alt. Minister of Economy, Development & Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura has series of meetings in the United States to promote Greek tourism

Alternate Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura, during her visit in New York, met yesterday with His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese’s headquarters in New York.

His Eminence emphasized the importance tourism has for the benefit of Greece and the country’s growth. The Minister thanked him for his significant contribution in the advancement and strengthening of Greek tourism in the United States and the Greek Diaspora.

The discussion involved the possibilities of increasing the flow of Greek-American tourists to Greece, the development of religious tourism and the Archdiocese’s contribution to the goal set by the Ministry’s national strategy which aims to  promote Greece  as an important  tourist Christian center.

The Minister had separate meetings with Senators, major investors, as well as Presidents and representatives of Organizations and Associations, including theΗΑΒΑ(Hellenic-American Bankers Association) and the Hellenic Medical Society (for medical tourism).

The Greek Minister also met with leading Tour Operators who specialize in Greece, with business executives and representatives of tourism Organizations based in the US, as well as with US and Greek-American media representatives, for the promotion of Greek tourism.

 Also, Mrs. Kountoura and the Deputy Foreign Minister for International Economic Relations, Mr. Dimitris Mardas attended yesterday the New York Stock Exchange ceremony at NYSE, a special event in honor of Greece and the “Greek Day at the NewYorkStockExchange”.
