The World Economic Forum in Davos hosted a special panel session on ‘finding a new equilibrium in the Middle East’ which  included Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mehmet Simsek, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash and Germany’s Federal Minister of Defense Ursula von der Leyen.

Traditionally described as “lines in the sand”, the borders delineating sovereign countries in the Middle East have proved remarkably tenacious. With new patterns of international and regional dynamics unravelling, is a new interconnected order reshaping the Middle East?

The session on Wednesday was moderated by New York Times’ Foreign Affairs Columnist Thomas L. Friedman.
