Music legend and huge Macedonian supporter Mikis Theodorakis has been left infuriated with Tsipras’ agreement on the name “Republic of North Macedonia” for FYROM, calling it a historic defeat for Greece and saying it goes against the Greek majority.
Theodorakis has released a statement saying Tsipras “is a so-called leftist who has his own personal interest at heart,” and also added “it’s a great disgrace that will forever stigmatize us” after the “big YES of Mr. Tsipras”.
The full statement of Mikis Theodorakis is as follows:
“Our country drew on an act of historical defeat with unpredictable consequences at the expense of our country and our people. At the same time, the will of the overwhelming majority of the Greek people was stomped on. Tsipras, the so-called leftist is defending his own personal interest. In this way Greece and the Greek people are taking part in his downfall. After this big “YES” by Mr. Tsipras, what hurts the most is not only the dangers that lie ahead of us, but above all the great shame that will stigmatize us forever.”
