Iδιαίτερα απειλητικός εμφανίστηκε ο τούρκος πρόεδρος Ρετζέπ Ταγίπ Ερντογάν κατά τη διάρκεια της συνεδρίασης του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Ασφαλείας που συνεδρίασε υπό την προεδρία του, αναβαθμίζοντας τις απειλές του για Αιγαίο και Κύπρο. 
Το Εθνικό Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας συζήτησε και την κατάσταση στο Αιγαίο και την Κύπρο και στην ανακοίνωση γίνεται λόγος για δικαιώματα της Τουρκίας στο Αιγαίο, αλλά και δικαιώματα των Τουρκοκυπρίων και εδώ οι Τούρκοι κάνουν μια ιδιαίτερα επιθετική αναφορά.

«Θα προστατέψουμε τα δικαιώματα αυτά με όλα τα μέσα» αναφέρεται χαρακτηριστικά στην ανακοίνωση με τον Ερντογάν να απειλεί εμμέσως με χρήση πολεμικών μέσων αν αμφισβητηθούν τα δικαιώματα που ο ίδιος πιστεύει ότι έχει.

The written statement, issued after the National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Erdoğan, read: “It was underlined that it is our expectation that the roadmap reached to clear Manbij of the terrorist organization be meticulously implemented. The international community was called on to fulfill its political and humanitarian responsibilities regarding the solution of the Syrian issue in a faster and more efficient way.”

“OPERATIONS AGAINST TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS WILL CONTINUE”

The written statement issued after the meeting, read: “All aspects of the important internal and external developments which closely concern Turkey’s security were discussed, and the Council was briefed on the operations conducted inside and outside our country against all terrorist organizations -in particular Fetullah Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETO/PSS), PKK/PYD-YPG and DAESH- which threaten our national unity.”

It was pointed out in the statement that the bringing of the terrorists, who were captured abroad as a result of the successful works of intelligence and security institutions, to the noble Turkish justice “is the sign of Turkey’s resolution on this issue,” and that operations to this end will continue.

“AGREEMENT REACHED WITH RUSSIA ON IDLIB IS IMPORTANT”

The content over the positive outcomes of Turkey’s ongoing initiatives to prevent the addition of new ones to the long-running human tragedy in Syria, to minimize potential casualties and to contribute to peace was expressed in the statement, and the importance of the agreement reached in this regard with the Russian Federation on stopping the attacks against the de-escalation zone in Idlib was highlighted.

Stating that the precautions taken in order to maintain the presence of Turkey in Idlib, where it has set up 12 observation posts in the de-escalation zone in line with the Astana process, were also reviewed, the statement read: “It was expressed that Turkey will continue to sincerely work for the success of the agreement reached with the Russian Federation in Sochi as well as of the Geneva and Astana processes.”

CLEARING MANBIJ OF THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

The statement further read: “It was underlined that it is our expectation that the roadmap reached to clear Manbij of the terrorist organization be meticulously implemented. The determination to increasingly continue the efforts, which are made to immediately clear Syria’s other regions that lie along our southern borders of terror, was reiterated.  The international community was called on to fulfill its political and humanitarian responsibilities regarding the solution of the Syrian issue in a faster and more efficient way.”

It was also noted in the statement that the Council was briefed on the developments in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, and, in this regard, it was underscored that Turkey’s rights and interests will be defended -by using all the means at disposal- against the initiatives targeting the interests of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
