After having concluded his trip to Alexandroupolis, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, made it clear in comments to the Athens Macedonian News Agency that the presence of a US delegation in the city shows the US commitment for a strong presence in northern Greece and particularly in the city, where due to its port, there have been a series of strategic projects in energy and sea transport. A presence, he says, “promotes the interests of the two countries and boosts the strength of their alliance.”
“Evros has a particularly strategic geographic position, it is the border with Turkey, the border with Bulgaria, is the bridge between Asia Minor and the European Union, it is an area that is historically at the center of geopolitical developments and our presence, as I said, is part of America’s commitment to highlight active participation and our cooperation with Greece,” he added.
