Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias resigned Wednesday after a clash with a Cabinet colleague, according to local media.

Nikos Kotzias was reportedly unhappy that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras failed to support him in a dispute with Panos Kammenos, the defense minister and head of the right-wing Independent Greeks party, which is the junior coalition partner.

According to Kathimerini, during a Tuesday meeting of Cabinet, Kammenos accused Kotzias of mismanaging foreign ministry funds and being in the pocket of the billionaire financier George Soros.

Tsipras will take over the running of the foreign ministry, the Cyprus Mailreported.

Kotzias was the minister responsible for negotiating the agreement with Macedonia over that country’s name, which has been the subject of a decadeslong dispute. Kammenos opposes the deal.
