Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Friday met his Greek and Cypriot counterparts Nikos Kotzias and Nicos Christodoulides,to discuss arrangements for holding a three way summit in Greece between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Cypriot President Nicos Anasiastades and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras , said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The meeting comes within the framework of the ministers’ keenness on consulting and coordinating to foster relations that have become a key and firm strategic basis in the region, Abu Zeid said.
The meeting also tackled preparations for holding the next trilateral summit slated to be held in Crete in Greece later in 2018, probably on October 12.
They discussed the latest developments concerning joint projects including an electricity grid that will link Africa and Europe through the three countries as well as projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, fishery, industry and information technology.
The top diplomats also discussed the latest regional developments in southern and eastern Mediterranean region and cooperation in the field of information technology.
The Foreign Minister renewed the priority given by Egypt to strategic relations with both Athens and Cyprus.
For their part, the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Greece expressed their appreciation of the different frameworks of three way cooperation saying they are willing to upgrade economic relations to the level of political rapprochement among the three countries .
Meantime, the Spokesman for the Cypriot government said the three leaders will meet also on the sidelines of the United Nations general Assembly meetings in New York later this month.
